CORACINA HOUSE
On the outskirts of Witchcliffe, nestled into its spacious 2000m2 block, the Coracina House seamlessly blends the warmth of family connection with cost-effective design features and practical styling.

Having comfortably shared a 40m2 studio in the past, the owners wanted to create a compact, comfortable home to accommodate their growing family. This, coupled with the need to accommodate regular family visits from overseas, meant flexibility was an important part of our brief. Given the advantage of a north-facing site, we drew inspiration from our Sunshine range, crafting a design to suit the unique aspect of the block. In maximising the warmth of winter sun and the circulation of summer breezes, the home harnesses the sun's energy and natural elements to create a sustainable, energy-efficient, and comfortable space.
Coracina House 1
The design of Coracina House not only embraces connection to family, but also provides an opportunity to rent out the detached studio to provide an additional source of income. The positioning of the structures effectively balances the intimacy of the main dwelling with the autonomy of the studio to ensure privacy for future tenants.

Constructed during the Covid-19 era, where building costs soared, Coracina House is a testament to successful project management. The construction not only remained within budget but surpassed expectations by delivering a cost-effective home without compromising on build quality or sacrificing the key elements of solar passive design.
Coracina House emerges as a sunlit haven, attuned to life's ebb and flow through its adaptable design and pragmatic charm.
