GIDGEE ROAD
Tucked away on a 2,800 m2 block within walking distance to the Witchcliffe town centre. Surrounded by beautiful, established Peppi trees, this project presented itself as an exciting blank canvas for a small studio.
Image
The 50 m2 studio was strategically pulled back tight to the rear boundary to make space for a planned future house. Care was taken to nestle the studio between the existing trees to minimize impact and for privacy to the street.

North-facing, the studio opens itself up to the morning eastern sun for a lovely transition of light through winter. In summer, a deep verandah provides shading, extending the functionality of the interior space while still allowing penetration of warming winter sun.

Utlising re-cycled hardwoods was a dynamic feature of the design for the posts, beams and decking, adding a rustic charm to the studio whilst complimenting the Heritage Galv. cladding. This cladding acts both as a reference to the traditional buildings of the area and also offers surprising reflections and shadowing of the surrounding landscape.
This project was a wonderful and successful collaboration between LOOP Design & Build and the owners.
