NUI HOUSE
Nestled in behind the main street of Cowaramup, on a 1200m2 block sits a beautiful, small studio conversion of the old kindergarten. Sitting towards the front of the block, a large north facing back yard with rural views. There was an opportunity to build a new 3x2, amongst the established trees in behind the studio.
Cowaramup is a fast-growing area and what was once a sleepy rural town, with little more than a post office, is now one of the fastest growing regions in the South-West.
Cowaramup also faces the same housing crisis issues as the rest of the state, so it was a primary objective of the owners to maximise the potential of the block. This has the dual benefit of a rental to help manage a mortgage, whilst also providing affordable accommodation in a sought-after area close to town.
Using one of LOOP Design & Build templates, the owners were able to customise their design, to suit their lifestyle. Creating a walk-in pantry, a large work from home desk and a bath were some of the additions to the template with the resulting floor area landing at 140m2.
With all rooms north facing the house soaks up the winter sun, filtered through the existing large trees on the block that were left strategically untouched. A clean & simple material palette of Custom Orb in Monument Matt is not only cost effective but creates a beautiful backdrop for vegetation without imposing itself on the landscape.
